WHERE I COME FROM

I was raised in the Bay Area. After high school, I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Psychology. I met my wife, Stephanie, and we moved so I could attend law school at Pepperdine University. After earning my law degree, we moved to Bakersfield. I have been practicing law since 2001 at the Law Offices of Young and Nichols. Stephanie and I have raised our three children in Bakersfield. Stephanie is a teacher and has taught at BCSD schools her whole career. This year, she was honored to receive Kern County's Teacher of the Year. I have previously volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America. I have donated my time to a local food bank. Since 2020, I have helped run a summer camp for youth in the mountains. In my free time, I enjoy Premiere League Soccer (Let's go, Hammers), music and concerts, and the outdoors.

MISSION STATEMENT

Equality Meets Opportunity

I am a father of three kids that all attended the Bakersfield City School District and am married to a schoolteacher that is passionate about her students and schools. I see the countless hours she puts into making her classroom a safe learning environment for her students and the constant communication with her school families. She is a dedicated teacher who won Kern County Teacher of the Year this year. It's her example that has made me want to serve the community and use my training and experience as an attorney and advocate on behalf of families and students. My focus and my goals as a Board member are very simple: we must put the student and family first; we must support and lift up our teachers; and we must have safe and well-maintained schools. Every family and student in our district deserve a learning environment where they can thrive and succeed. That's why my top priorities are students and families, our dedicated teachers, and ensuring our campuses are top-notch. For our students and families, I'll focus on expanding support services and making sure every child has access to the resources they need to excel. I'll work tirelessly to bridge the gap between schools and families, ensuring clear communication and strong support systems. We need to remember that we are serving the family and students. Our teachers are the backbone of our education system, and they deserve our unwavering support. I'll advocate for better professional development, competitive salaries, and the resources they need to inspire and educate effectively. We need to support them and support their desire to serve our children, our families, and our community. Finally, our campuses must be safe, clean, and conducive to learning. I'm committed to upgrading our facilities and ensuring every school has the tools and environment necessary for both students and staff to succeed and create an environment that puts education and learning at the core of everything we do.
I believe in the Bakersfield City School District creedo: Where the Child Come First. Our community and school district must be unwavering in this vision. I ask for your Vote. Vote Brandon Holladay for Bakersfield City School Board, District One.
